A Little BIt About The Texas Youth Hunting Program

I never intended to have my backside featured on the front page of an article, but there it is. That pic was taken on day two of a three day Pronghorn hunt in the experimental unit southeast of Amarillo Texas. We spent from daylight to dark glassing and roaming over 36,000 acres of scrub and canyons. It was absolutely beautiful, and tiring. We had a young buck move up to within about 75 yards at one point, but passed because he wasn’t mature. It was great practice for a situation that didn’t ever evolve. We stalked a group of 7 animals for about an hour. It had two harvestable bucks in it, but they stayed just ahead of us and we never got a shot.
